The Archive of the Board of Deputies Defence Committee
The Library is pleased to announce the arrival of the Board of Deputies Defence Archive, which has been placed on long-term loan at the Library. The archive illuminates a thorough and systematic information gathering effort by the Jewish community against those who sought to aid Nazism and undermine democracy, which has been little researched until now.
The archive contains reports from the Jewish community's observers who attended many local and national meetings held by fascist organisations, assessments of these groups' aims and capabilities, correspondence with the police and government, as well as the minutes of the Board's committees.
The catalogue is now fully accessible, and the archive is available for researchers with the permission of the Board of Deputies (form is available online).
