The Arrival of the Library of Professor Antony Polonsky
We are very pleased to announce the safe arrival of the working library of Professor Antony Polonsky that he has kindly donated to The Wiener Library.
Professor Polonsky is retiring from his post as Albert Abramson Professor of Holocaust Studies, an appointment held jointly at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and Brandeis University. One of the leading experts on Polish-Jewish history, Professor Polonsky was a Founder of Polin: a Journal of Polish-Jewish Studies and Editor of the Littman Library of Holocaust Testimonies.
The books arrived at the Library two weeks ago and will be a very welcome addition to our holdings, especially the many Polish titles, balancing the work of German and English academics. The collection includes many local studies of Polish-Jewish history in the 19th and 20th Centuries, books and pamphlets on controversies such as Jedwabne, and books on Holocaust education, as well as concentration camp guides and a set of tourist postcards from Auschwitz from the 1980s. The material is still being unpacked and processed, but will be added to our main catalogue in due course.
